Your options
- Embroidery. Looks great, but you have to take or post your boots to a specialist and wait. Not every boot material can be stitched.
- Paint pens. Cheap and quick, but hard to get neat, and they wear off with mud and cleaning.
- Iron-on patches. Heat can damage synthetic boot uppers, so they're risky on modern boots.
- Self-adhesive transfers. Printed and cut to order, pressed on by hand at home, with no glue, heat or sewing. This is what Boot ID is.
What you can put on your boots
With Boot ID you can choose a name (up to 15 characters), a number, a flag, an emoji, or your own image, such as a club crest or a logo. Text transfers come in black ink for light boots or white ink for dark boots. They have no background, so your boot's colour shows through around the letters.
Custom images can be cropped when you order, with or without the background, at any height from 1 to 50 mm.
How to apply a boot name transfer
Prep your boots
Wipe off dirt and mud with a damp cloth, then clean the spot with the priming wipe included in your order. Let the boots dry completely, at least 15–20 minutes.
Plan the placement
Pick a smooth, flat area of leather or synthetic upper. The heel, the side panel and the tongue all work well. Avoid knit, fabric and heavily creased areas.
Press it on
Hold the transfer in place and press firmly with your thumb for 10–15 seconds, working across the whole design, not just the centre.
Peel the film
Wait 60 seconds, then peel the clear film slowly from one corner. If part of the design lifts, press it down again and peel from a different angle.
Let it set
The bond is immediate, but give it 1–2 hours before a game for full strength. Applying the night before a match is ideal.
How long does it last?
Applied properly, a Boot ID transfer lasts a full season of matches, training and normal boot cleaning. To keep it looking sharp, wipe your boots clean rather than putting them in the washing machine or soaking them, and don't pick at the edges.
Does it work on my boots?
Yes, on any brand: Nike, Adidas, Puma and the rest, new or used. What matters is the surface: it needs to be clean, dry and reasonably flat.
